PadMUN 2023 to Focus on “The Future Unfolds: Leveraging Middle Power Emergence in a Multipolar World”

The Executive Board of the International Relations Student Assembly at Universitas Padjadjaran is gearing up to host the prestigious Padjadjaran International Model United Nations (PadMUN) conference, set to take place from October 27th to October 29th, 2023, at the Savoy Homann Hotel in Bandung.

PadMUN, an annual international-scale event, is a simulation of United Nations proceedings where participants, acting as member state delegations, work collaboratively to address pressing global issues. This year’s conference theme, “The Future Unfolds: Leveraging Middle Power Emergence in a Multipolar World,” reflects the conference’s commitment to discussing the role of middle powers in shaping the future of international diplomacy and cooperation.

The conference will feature four distinct councils, each dedicated to tackling critical global challenges:

1. UN Women: Delegates in this council will focus on “The Quest for Safer Societies: Eliminating All Forms of Gender-Based Violence, Sexual Harassment, and Discrimination Against Women.” 
2. UNDP: Participants in the UNDP council will delve into “Population Growth Addressing the Demographic Challenge of Declining Birth Rates: Strategies for Sustainable Development.”
3. UNEP: The UNEP council will be “Devising an Inclusive Global Energy Transition Blueprint” under the theme “The Rise of Renewables.” 
4. Security Council: The Security Council will “Readdress the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Persevering Peace and Security in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.” 

PadMUN 2023 promises to be a platform where young diplomats and aspiring global leaders can sharpen their diplomatic skills, engage in spirited debates, and work collaboratively to find resolutions to complex international problems. The agreed-upon solutions in each council will be adopted as resolutions, demonstrating the participants’ dedication to fostering global cooperation.
